Let’s build that base up at Heavenly!!!  Special weather alert for Friday.

ALTHOUGH WIDESPREAD SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION IS NOT EXPECTED WITH THIS SYSTEM… SCATTERED INTENSE SNOW SHOWERS MAY LEAD TO MINOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE SIERRA AND VALLEY FLOORS OF WESTERN NEVADA AND EASTERN CALIFORNIA. THE EXCEPTIONS WOULD BE NEAR THE SOUTHERN SHORES OF BOTH LAKE TAHOE AND PYRAMID LAKE WHERE LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS ARE LIKELY FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT AND COULD ACCUMULATE TO SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOWFALL.

Snowcapped Mountains

Weather in Tahoe is strange. This morning I drove to work and saw that all the mountains were snowcapped!!  Awesome.  But here at 6,500 feet, it’s just chilly and raining. However, it’s also sunny.  We seriously had a sunshower for about 3 hours.  I’ve never seen that before in my life.  And it’s possibly snowing an inch tonight.  But it will be 73 on Wednesday.

October First…. CALLING FOR SNOW!

Another way SLT kills Montgomery County…. SNOWBOARDING options.  Heavenly is only about 10 minutes from house by bus or car.  Happy Sigh.  Ski Liberty was the crappy, superexpensive mountain by my house in Maryland.  And a season pass to Heavenly is about half the price of Liberty.  Now, the snow watch begins!!!!!

From http://www.accuweather.com, bolding done by me!

MODERATE RAIN WILL MOVE INTO THE NORTHERN SIERRA FRIDAY AFTERNOON WITH HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED ALONG THE SIERRA FRIDAY NIGHT. SNOW LEVELS MAY FALL BELOW 7000 FEET EARLY SATURDAY MORNING…WITH LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE IN THE TAHOE BASIN. SEVERAL INCHES OF ACCUMULATIONS IS EXPECTED IN THE SIERRA ABOVE 8000 FEET. SOME AREAS BELOW 7000 FEET IN THE SIERRA MAY RECEIVE ONE HALF INCH OF RAIN OR MORE FRIDAY NIGHT.
MOTORISTS TRAVELING OVER THE HIGH SIERRA PASSES NEED TO CARRY
TIRE CHAINS AND BE PREPARED FOR WINTER LIKE DRIVING CONDITIONS.

RAIN IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS WILL CREATE SLICK ROADS AND REDUCED
VISIBILITY.
