Fort Worth Water Gardens

Posted in Uncategorized on July 31, 2008 by janaycore

Just when you thought Texas was a sprawling flat state full of people who think Emad is a Mexican, comes something so beautiful and breathtaking.  No one local was using the park though.  Probably because it was 105 that day and we were the only idiots not in air conditioning.  If you ever find yourself in Fort Worth, Texas for some odd reason.  You have to see it!

The Canyon. Random people in the bottom to show the size. Gigantic! At the bottom, the sound of the water was deafening.

Sitting in the bottom of the Canyon, looking like a herb.

There are also two other parts of this beautiful place, but my picture do it no justice so you’ll just have to see if yourself (or search for pictures online).

Off to Dallas!

So before we left for Dallas, we had to fix the crack in my windshield.  We also bought new windshield wipers.  Interesting, I know.  Little did we know that it took 45 minutes to apply the crack fixer.  So lucky me got to spend an extra hour in Austin in Pep Boy’s parking lot.  And it looked like my car was doing drugs.

Drugs are bad, mmmkay?

Keep Austin Weird

I love the funky culture of Austin.  It’s only downfall is that it’s in Texas.  There’s this coffee house called “The Spyder House.” It’s a collection of random junk placed in such a beautiful and chill way, especially in the garden.  And if you come without your own weird style, you look out of place.

The covered part of the garden. Note the interesting styles of the people.

The waitstaff are not exempt to the funky styles. Note Austin sign over the wait station.

We also went to Barton Springs, which is in the city of Austin.  The water is about 68 degrees and takes your breath away when you jump in. However, it’s unbelievably refreshing after sitting in the HOT HOT Texas sun and temperatures got up to about 103 degrees.  I can’t believe how hot the sun is there.  I was wearing 30 spf and I still baked to a golden crisp after and hour and a half.  I left my camera in the car and was too lazy to get it while I was there but I stole this picture from the internet so just pretend that you see me in the picture.

Austin, you are a cool city, why are you in Texas?

Real Texas BBQ

Hanging out in Austin with our friends, Chris and Dorian.  Drove thirty minutes to “The Salt Lick.” Screened-in porch, on a ranch, endless meat cooking, live country music.  Here are the after-effects of people getting meat drunk.
